Computer Skills & Digital Entrepreneurship Classes
Our recent classes have begun, and we thank all who applied! New applications will open in 2026—stay tuned for dates.
Summary: On 27 June 2025, a total of 309 young people graduated from the Computer Skills and Digital Entrepreneurship Program at Charlestown Community Hall. The program, led by The Difference Makers Youth Organization, Sakhisizwe Production Youth Project, and SUKUMUZENZELE, in partnership with NYDA and NYS, equipped participants with vital digital and entrepreneurial skills.
The Charlestown Community Hall was alive with excitement as graduates, families, and community leaders came together to celebrate this milestone. The initiative aimed to empower youth with the knowledge and tools needed to explore digital careers, start businesses, and create opportunities in their communities.
Special appreciation was extended to the Charlestown DSD Office and the Newcastle DSD District Office for their support throughout the program.
Program Facilitator, Buhle Ngwenya, shared heartfelt words during the ceremony:
“It has been such a wonderful journey with these young champions. Today is a celebration of their commitment and hard work. I want to sincerely thank all the parents and guardians who supported their children to reach this milestone—your encouragement made this achievement possible.”
The event concluded with certificate handovers, cultural moments, and plenty of joy. For the 309 graduates, this day marked not an end—but the beginning of brighter digital futures.
The Swenka Ngephinifa Commemoration Day, held on 28 August 2025 at the Charlestown Community Hall, launched Netball Women’s Cup Week with a powerful mix of culture and empowerment. In partnership with the Charlestown DSD Office, stakeholders including SAPS, the Department of Agriculture, the Ward Councillor, and the Charlestown Clinic equipped women with skills in agriculture, GBVF awareness, health, and social support services. The event celebrated tradition while giving women practical tools to build safer and stronger futures.
The Netball Women’s Cup 2025 brought together communities, players, and stakeholders for a powerful week of culture, empowerment, and sport. From the Swenka Ngephinifa Commemoration Day to the 2km Commemoration Walk and an exciting one-day netball tournament, the event united Charlestown under the theme of the Purple Ribbon – Standing Together Against GBV & Femicide.
